Camp Budokan is Budokan’s annual summer camp open to kids ages 5-13! Early Bird deadline is May 1, 2026.

“Growing up, I was fortunate enough to connect with my culture and community through the San Fernando Valley Japanese American Community Center. Some of my best memories included, obon carnivals, our community picnics, post game refreshments, playing in tournaments from Orange County, up through San Francisco, and meeting other JA's and Asian Americans from all over the state. I attended Chatsworth High School, playing both basketball and volleyball.

I decided to go to UC Irvine and majored in Education and Multicultural Studies. After graduating UC Irvine, I worked in the mortgage industry until I transitioned into the nonprofit world. That nonprofit worked with at-risk youth from all over the county, providing resources and educational opportunities that the students otherwise would not have experienced. In working with this organization, I witnessed first hand the value of supporting the underserved communities. In 2014 I co-founded Not Your Average Basketball Camp, which is a basketball experience that is designed to be accessible to all children, regardless of their ability or limitations.

My involvement in the Little Tokyo community began at a young age as a participant of the Rising Stars Youth Leadership Program and as a member of the Yonsei Basketball organization. Years later, I had the opportunity to coach the Yonsei 23 and Yonsei 26 teams. Those experiences were critical in molding my passions for sports, leadership, and community.“
