WHY CAMP BUDOKAN IS SPECIAL
40 campers called our gym “home” for a week to brush up on their basketball skills and make memories. 12 amazing volunteer coaches made this experience possible, and one of them, Peyton Motoyasu, wrote a special piece about how she found community as a Japanese American through basketball, and how Camp Budokan does the same.
“I've always loved volunteering at the camp because I enjoy getting to talk to the kids and help them learn a new sport. It was very rewarding getting to coach them throughout the week and seeing how happy they were at the end of each day as they won a game or made a basket.” - Peyton Motoyasu
